Adjusting my nervous system

Hello! I've skipped a day on the blog because we had quite a lot going on, trying to navigate the upheaval in the local area. Thousands of tourists trapped in and around Machu Picchu. Thankfully, we found an emergency hotel and could make alternative plans.

As a group we support the local protests who's only power really, is preventing people like us (well-off western tourists) from reaching the site in order to negotiate a better and fairer life for themselves. I now understand from our leaders that the site has changed a lot since they were last here in 2018, much more commercialised and busy.

Personally then, I am grateful to skip the hype and the crowds for a more unique experience. And thankfully, that's exactly what we got last night. We have moved out of the rather limited emergency hotel to a stunning location for the next 6 days.

We have been able to meet as a group, to share, meditate and land in this space. Stephen, one of our leaders, took us through a soul retrieval to allow us to regulate again after so much uncertainty.

Last night the music Master Shaman returned and did ceremony with us, firstly round the fire and then indoors as it lasted about 90 minutes.

It was great to hear chiropractic philosophy is alive and well understood in the Andean traditional culture! He talked about resetting our nervous systems through the spinal column, working the vagus nerve and using breathwork to create calm and ease.

He came around us all individually, blowing a massive wooden trumpet into our spines, creating a deep vibration. He repeated this with a conch shell and later with his flute over our 3rd eye. He lead us through breathing exercises, vocal exercises and song. It was really wonderful!

The reset what exactly what we needed, and I found myself relaxed and light headed after. The group shared hugs and came together in a new way; those who were still frustrated and struggling after the turmoil of the last few days smiling, relaxed and happy.

After we sat by the fire under the stars, talking and sharing. There are so many ways into the nervous system, many ways to help create ease. This is one that I will remember for a very long time.
